Resumen
Camilo Pardo, a student of Cadastral and Geodesy Engineering at the District University (Universidad Distrital), reports on the student mobilization day convened by UNES (National Union of Higher Education Students) towards the Plaza de Bolívar. This march is being carried out as a pressure mechanism while the negotiation table with the Government enters a pause that will extend until mid-January 2019. The student emphasizes that support on the streets is crucial to back the spokespersons at the negotiating table, despite being aware of the risk of lower attendance due to the start of the December holiday season. Internally at the District University, the movement has put forward a Local List of Demands (Pliego Local de Exigencias) which has been preliminarily discussed with the Academic Council. This local list of demands calls for, among other points, an increase in the university's budgetary base, the adoption of a Concurrency Pact (Pacto de Concurrencia) to assume pension payments and free up resources, the creation of a children’s nursery, and the urgent improvement of infrastructure in faculties like Arts and Engineering. The formalization of employment for academic staff is also demanded
