This document analyzes the historical context of the bicycle in society and the importance it has taken as a means of transportation at the global, national and district levels, as well as the behavior of the bicycle market, the factors that generate the increase in the acquisition and purchase, and the relationship of theft with the growth of use and the boom generated by bicycles in the city of Bogota. In order to mitigate the theft problem, different designs of devices are proposed, selecting the most effective one according to the identified needs and the potential qualitative demand. Thus, we propose the design of a mechanical device that can be used to reduce bicycle theft. This device is activated seconds after the thief approaches the bike-user, blocking one of its axles and preventing mobility on this vehicle, in addition this equipment emits an alarm with a power of 110 decibels, the combination of these systems will allow the reaction of the authorities and will hinder the escape of the criminal.
