Hijos de la Colonia: Construcción Histórica de la Infancia en Santafé de Bogotá

Abstract

This historical research cut from the perspective of interpretive history, seek to understand and characterize the category of children in the Colonial era in Bogota and how it is constructed from different social, cultural, economic and political aspects. The investigation takes as its starting point the review of documentary sources around other studies that take as the main focus of social and cultural aspects. Chroniclers and reconstructed historical documents become primary source in the documentary archive to reconstruct the notion of childhood. Other elements taken into account for the formation of the notion of childhood are rearing practices, education and ways of relating to children. This with the idea to check how some of this parenting practices and ideas on children are until today present in Bogota society.
