Resumen
The problems represented by wastewater from the textile industry and current conventional treatment methods, possible solutions are proposed for its adequate treatment, such as electrocoagulation. This research seeks to determine the efficiency of a functional prototype of an electrocoagulation cell for the treatment of textile wastewater contaminated with dyes using iron anodes, based on the experimental design of the interrelation of critical variables, measuring the treatment efficiency of all possible combinations. of operating parameters in a synthetic sample. Subsequently, the statistical analysis was carried out to determine the optimal operating conditions of the prototype, and to carry out the treatment of an environmental sample, under the conditions already defined (600cm2, 5 amps and 30 minutes of treatment). Based on the results obtained, COD removal efficiencies of over 60%, decreases in the concentration of dissolved solids between 30 and 40%, and a 63% decrease in the turbidity value were achieved. Finally, process limitations were determined, such as: destabilization of the formed contaminant flocs and decrease in treatment efficiency when treatment time and current density are increased above optimal values, among others.
