Resumen
The chemical risk management program is a mechanism to reduce the level of risk to which workers are exposed in the handling of chemical substances and products within their daily activities. The company Scalpi S.A. is dedicated to the production of cosmetic products through the maquila modality. Within its processes are handled around 200 substances and chemical products that represent a risk for the workers of the plant. Through inspection visits and the completion of checklists, the current conditions of the company and the handling of these substances were determined. The risk assessment was developed with a matrix based on the methodology of the GTC 45 in which it is established that for hygienic hazards it must be carried out through the COSHH Essentials model proposed by the ILO. For flammable and explosive substances, the Institut National de Recherche et de Sécurité (INRS) method was used, since the ILO does not include substances with these characteristics. Taking into account the substances that are within the risk levels I and II, controls were determined as elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative and the use of PPE to reduce the risk. Additionally, the subprograms of Preventive Medicine and Labor and Safety and Industrial Hygiene were designed, which seek to outline reliable alternatives for the control of chemical risks to which workers are currently exposed.
