Resumen
Currently, close to 80% of the basic foodstuffs consumed in Bogotá are produced at a distance of no more than 300 kilometers from the city. There are overpricing and deterioration of food quality. The most vulnerable citizens represent 76% of the population, four out of ten households do not have the income to cover the cost of the minimum nutritional requirements (Garzon, 2019). That is why the present work aims to propose the school garden as a central and dynamizing axis in the framework of strengthening the PRAE in the Colegio Compartir Recuerdo to promote understanding about the importance of food and nutritional security of young people in seventh grade. For this purpose, multidisciplinary workshops were implemented, such as the "healthy dish of the Colombian family" and the elaboration of sprouts, as well as a didactic guide on how to make a school vegetable garden. After the characterization process and the implementation of the questionnaires of previous knowledge and acquired knowledge, it was observed that the students had significant learning regarding the topic of food safety and nutrition. In conclusion, it was demonstrated that education about the school garden is an effective tool to promote understanding of the importance of food and nutrition security in the seventh grade students of the Compartir Recuerdo school.
