Resumen
In this project, an investigation is carried out on the differentiating characteristics between the Industrial Engineering and Production Engineering programs, in order to identify their field of action in the workplace in the country, taking into account their level of employability and other variables, in the same way to distinguish differences in academic curricula. The document first presents the generalities of the project, in the second chapter the frame of reference is shown, composed of: theoretical framework, background and legal framework, where it seeks to contextualize the panorama of these two careers, since the year they were founded, by which institution and a base of concepts that define the area of knowledge of each program. Subsequently, the methodology is presented, identifying the labor demand and supply, analyzing the employment relationship of recent graduates, as well as the academic offer, highlighting what the preferences of young people are when choosing a career to study, then the curricular contents of the projects, analyzing the study plans between Industrial Engineering and Production Engineering and the profiles (profile of applicant, professional and occupational) offered by the Francisco José de Caldas District University. The results of the project followed, determining the performance areas of the graduates, for which an interview was conducted with the academic coordinators of the universities at the national level that offer both programs simultaneously, the EAN University and the Francisco José de Caldas District University, as well as related studies that are available in the RIUD (Institutional Repository of the District University, to finally conclude the document.
