Resumen
In hydrology, floods are defined as natural events, which denote a sudden increase in water velocity, which directly affects the flow and energy of the channel. These are evidenced in the beds of rivers or any river area and are the product of natural processes, such as rain. Not knowing the impact that these processes produce in the hydraulics of the river, can hinder the intention of the engineering constructions or worse, provoke catastrophes that harm the integrity of the inhabitants of the sector and the material heritage.
That is why, the purpose of this document is to use the rational method, in order to evaluate the different morphological factors of the basin and thus estimate the flow rate of increasing to know the water aptitudes and the dynamics of the tributary.
The rational method estimates the maximum flow of a basin less than 10 km2, from the precipitation of the sector. It also covers all its geomorphological factors (such as land use, vegetation cover, among others) and synthesizes them in a runoff coefficient (c).
Based on this study, you can design any civil structure appropriate to the water characteristics of the stream in question, obtaining the most benefit from the river property that is so imperative for society.
