Resumen
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are a key sector for Colombia’s economic and sustainable development. However, these businesses exhibit a low level of innovation, limiting their growth potential and competitiveness. As part of national and district government strategies to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through academia, the Advanced Manufacturing and Design Laboratory (LAMDA) at Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas plays a crucial role in Bogotá’s innovation ecosystem. LAMDA is equipped with cutting-edge technologies that can facilitate MSME innovation. However, to provide effective support, LAMDA requires a tailored innovation model specifically designed for MSMEs. The proposed research aims to design an innovation model for LAMDA to assist MSMEs in enhancing their innovation capacity. This study has the potential to contribute to the development of an effective innovation model for Colombian manufacturing MSMEs. Such a model can be leveraged by LAMDA and other actors within the innovation ecosystem to support MSMEs in their innovation efforts. This research is significant as it can help improve innovation among Colombian MSMEs by addressing barriers that hinder their ability to innovate, thereby enhancing their growth potential and competitiveness. The study will be conducted in three phases, employing a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. The expected outcomes will contribute to the development of an effective innovation model for manufacturing MSMEs. The proposed research scope ensures feasibility and aims to generate relevant insights for Colombian manufacturing MSMEs.
