Resumen
Bogotá and the country in general, have been presenting a deficit in the management and adequacy of household waste generated in homes, since more than 50% of it can be used and incorporated back into the production chain, and those that do not are discarded without prior management. One of the causes of this behavior is the non-existence of optimal waste management models linked to the fact that, on many occasions, the companies that provide this service do not provide sufficient support in terms of information or tools that allow the community to do an efficient disposal job. Due to this, over time community associations have been formed in different neighborhoods of the capital with the aim of providing well-being for their residents and the creation of strategies as a way to help them solve the problems that most arise within the sectors. . This is the case of ASOSALITRE, an association of residential complexes located in Ciudad Salitre in Bogotá that, for more than 25 years, has carried out improvement activities within its UPZ. One of the activities that ASOSALITRE has launched is the management of solid waste within the horizontal property that compose it and the creation of the RECISALITRE program. Within this initiative, activities have been developed such as the implementation of demarcated areas for the correct separation of usable waste within each property and short talks with the owners to train and guide them on how disposal should be. However, strategies have not been established for the management of all types of household waste that are generated daily, which has prevented decisions regarding their intervention. Due to the above, a household waste management system was designed to be incorporated into the 21 groups assigned to ASOSALITRE, being a tool that allows them to know correctly how each of the waste from their domestic work should be managed. . The same was established through a previous diagnosis of the units in which it was found that there are structural, locative and social deficiencies in the waste storage areas; Within these, lack of lighting and ventilation, presence of humidity, lack of demarcation in terms of waste separation, little organization of waste, as well as insufficient education and environmental culture by the inhabitants were found. Following this, the waste that is generated in the residential units was characterized by taking a representative sample, finding that, of the non-economically usable waste that is most generated, it is organic, while the economically usable waste that is most generated is organic. paper and cardboard. Finally, and taking into account the activities carried out previously, management measures were established both for the areas of temporary waste disposal and for use and social inclusion in relation to the management of the different household solid waste.
