Resumen
The following thesis project, titled “IoT Device Based on an Image Acquisition System to Perform Ergonomic Analysis Using SigFox Technology,” proposes the development of a communication system that functions as an ergonomic monitoring device. Given that musculoskeletal disorders account for 45% of reported occupational diseases in Colombia, and with the aim of reducing work absences and healthcare system costs associated with these injuries, a prototype was designed based on postural images captured through the Kinect V1 sensor. These images are transmitted to the backend platform via the SigFox network, chosen for its long range and low power consumption. The developed algorithm transforms joint coordinates, extracted from the images, into biomechanical angles and classifies the worker’s posture according to the OWAS ergonomic evaluation method. Through the graphical interface, the system enables the visualization, monitoring, and timely tracking of risk alerts for each employee, thereby facilitating the implementation of corrective measures to prevent permanent injuries. This approach demonstrates that the digitization of ergonomics is feasible even in environments with limited infrastructure, and lays the foundation for future applications of this type of communication system in surveillance and data monitoring processes across various industries.
