Resumen
The richness, abundance, composition and structure of the lepidoptera assemblage in municipalities of Samaniego and Tuquerres were evaluated. This minicupalities belong to “Nudo de los Pastos” located in the department of Nariño, Colombia. Were used 4 sampling stations, placed between 1,562 and 3,815 masl. A total of 120 species were collected, belonging to 5 families: Lycaenidae, Papilionidae, Pieridae Riodinidae and Nymphalidae. The subtribe Pronophilina was very common in the Azufral paramo. Significant differences were found in butterfly diversity (Shannon index) between the 4 studied stations, and in relation to the altitude. The low diversity of families Lycaenidae and Riodinidae in all stations indicated a high disturbance, because most of those species inhabit deep in the conserved forest. In contrast, presence of the genera Colias and leptophobia is frequent in disturbed environment. The greatest diversity was recorded from areas with predominance of crops and grazing pastures, it probably is due to the intermediate levels of disturbance influence, by providing greater availability of resources, favoring the generalist species. The analysis of the beta diversity of lepidoptera showed a low similarity between the sampling sites, suggesting structural differences between communities of each locality. Three new altitudinal records are recorded from Nariño. This is the first research about Lepidoptera’s assemblage in mentioned municipalities of Nariño, which are placed at north of the tropical Andes, which is considered a hotspot.
