Resumen
This classroom research aims to promote the understanding of the notions of substance and mixture with high school students who are studing in eleventh grade Chemistry. It was developed in a school in the rural area of Funza, Cundinamarca in a period of eight (8) months, in which through the application of several instruments and the didactic unit called Medications: Pure Substances or Mixtures, which based on the presuppositions of didactics, epistemology and history of the sciences, with their development were obtained modelizations, conceptualizations and representations of students case around the notions of substance and mixture taking as reference the connection of these concepts with medicines. All of them are observed in three transition moments called initial, intermediate and final, using the case study methodology. With its identification and subsequent analysis it was possible to perceive the manifestation of great changes in each of the three variants taken, but the most important thing was to know that the students are able at different levels to show understanding of their knowledge when put into use in a situation which involves the modeling and practice of the notions to deepen this research.
