Resumen
The successional status of the premontane humid forest located in the Las Palmeras Natural Reserve (RNP), in the municipality of Cubarral.Meta, is determined through the analysis of 5 noncontinuous measurements of 1-hectare permanent sampling plot over a period of 14 years. For this purpose, species, diameter at breast height (DBH), number of recruits, number of missing and dead trees, and evidence of disturbances were taken into account. The results revealed that the forest is in an intermediate succession stage, providing a new perspective on the succession of intervened forests. The discussion focuses on interpreting these results, considering their relevance in the context of conservation and understanding of natural forests. A review is made with existing literature, highlighting key similarities and differences. Furthermore, the practical and theoretical implications of these findings are discussed. The conclusions drawn from this research underline the successional state of the forest, as well as the evolution of key species and the impact of disturbances on forest development. Recommendations are made to increase the knowledge about these ecosystems, emphasizing the importance of having updated information regarding climatological phenomena that may affect the regular progress of the forest. This study contributes to the understanding of succession processes in understudied ecosystems and provides a solid foundation for future research in this field.
