Resumen
Mocoa is the capital of the Putumayo department located in Colombia's southwest. The analysis of areas with highest flooding probability is carried out in this area due to its geographical location and topographical and hydrological characteristics, it has a high flooding and landslides risk. Mocoa has been affected by several events causing landslides and mudflows, leaving great damage mainly human, economical and ecological losses. To help the responsible entities in the decision making about the risk management and the future events prevention in Mocoa, a map with the flooding hazard zoning was generated. The map was generated through the research, analysis and information modeling, using softwares such as ArcGIS and Hec-Ras, besides some free use data and following existing methodologies for the use of geographic information systems like the one proposed by IDEAM.
