Resumen
This paper seeks to identify the way in which a group of chemistry teachers understands preconceptions from their students, the way they interact with them in class and the way they use them. It is important to point out that the investigations about preconceptions, the way in which are presented and the provenance of the same have been primarily focused on students; in this work we focus on the teachers thinking about their students
preconceptions, the way in which are presented and how they work with this ideas to design their class, because it is necessary to comprehend how teachers apply the preconceptions theory, of which has been spoken since 1970 decade. In this sense, we are working on the problem "How a group of chemistry professors understand and use the preconceptions of their students?” This problem address the possibility of an understanding about the term preconceptions that may differ between the teachers and the definitions proposed in the pedagogical models. Also, the understanding of this term may be influenced by other terms which describe or explain the knowledge that the students have prior to interact with others in the classroom. The methodology applied to respond to the research problem was qualitative, because described classroom experiences, where was developed a case study multiple working the testimonies of five teachers, who described the students preconceptions role in their work inside the classroom, using semi-structured interviews, where we sought the construction of some core questions and that according to the participants
answers were generated more of them. The results obtained were analyzed using content analysis to find key aspects in the declarations of the interviews. We seeks to contribute with this work, both at the educational practice in the classroom as to the need to improve the initial and continued teachers education, around the problem of how to work with students preconceptions.
