Thus, an overview is presented on the evolution of agroecology and its impact on the formation of projects, initiatives, social movements and implementation of agrarian policies in Brazil, the Andean region, Central America, Mexico and Cuba. In addition, a historical review is made from 1980 on the adoption and diffusion of agroecology in Colombia, and the role that society, institutions and government have played in consolidating it in the country.
