Industry, society, and the economy are going through a new revolution, the so-called industry 4.0, characterized by digitization, connectivity and real-time decision-making, but these transactions are not viable without the relevant training and for this reason Higher education institutions have the duty to adapt their programs to the new requirements of the market and thus contribute to the development of nations and guarantee the employability of graduates. That is where it is important to establish the relevance of one of the main guides when establishing updates in the curriculum, such as the profiles of graduates, especially in those careers that have direct interaction with the industry. The objective of this work is to establish if the current professional profile of the industrial engineering career at the Francisco José de Caldas District University responds to these growing needs of the fourth industrial revolution and if said profile is consistent with the training that future graduates are receiving.
