Resumen
In the context of the processes of cultural hybridization of colonial society in the Santa Fe of the XVII century, there is an approach to the pictorial theme of the Holy Family, and particularly to the figure of Saint Joseph, as the model of the father relationship - son, according to the Tridentine provisions on marriage. Inquiring into the specific characteristics of the family structures of the time, as well as the conciliar guidelines in the matter of images, and the texts on the office that circulated among the painters of Santa Fe, an outline of the discursive and doctrinal content of the representations of San Jose found, nourishing thus from the cultural history an iconographic work that gives account of the development in form, content and meaning of this image.
