Resumen
Recently, open innovation has been the object of analysis in productive sectors, being relatively new in academia. Although the research is relevant and growing, it is necessary to know how Higher Education Institutions in Colombia integrate this paradigm. The purpose of this research is to design a proposal to measure the capacity for open innovation in higher education institutions, where can be identified dimensions and factors for this concept, after that, being measured in the first case in Francisco José Caldas District University, and from there to be able to present to other higher education institutions in Colombia. To identify the dimensions and factors to be evaluated in this model, a literature review was carried out, recognizing key aspects, experiences, and pieces of evidence that are taken into account in the theoretical framework, looking up for the open innovation characterization, its worldwide and national application, highlighting the role of research groups in these institutions. Then, is described the methodology for the formulation of the model and how it is composed, highlighting each of the definitions of the factors and domains. Followed by the application of the model, the results are analyzed, and, finally, the conclusions and recommendations of the investigation are presented.
