Resumen
This study focused on exploring the various conceptions of environmental education among teachers working at the Antonio Nariño Educational Institution in the township of Coello Cocora in Ibagué-Tolima. This research sought to understand how these conceptions influence the educational process of students in the field of environmental education. In addition, it sought to understand the conceptual perspectives of environmental education among teachers at the educational institution and the impact on their teaching practices. To achieve the proposed objective, a mixed sequential approach with a comprehensive descriptive scope was used, employing the case study method. This allowed for a detailed and in-depth view of the teachers' conceptions of environmental education and their impact on student training in the rural context. It was expected that a diversity of conceptions of environmental education would be identified among teachers in the rural area studied. It was also anticipated that an understanding of how these conceptions influence teaching practices would be gained. These findings provided important inputs for the design of contextualized and relevant environmental education strategies in similar rural settings.
