Resumen
The main objective of this work is to unveil the resignification of imaginaries about the ancestral memory through oraliture and stories that indigenous and non-indigenous children from Oswaldo Guayasamín School, ranging between the age of 10 to 11 years, tell. Oraliture will be the core that allows the research of memory, ancestry, knowledge, and words as the source of enrichment to children that are part of a school of communal construction. All of this is possible thanks to —as some oralitors say— the status of the children as “Travelers of their own chronicles”. When the indigenous students share their ancestral knowledge with their non-indigenous classmates, using their voices and stories, they show the intercultural diversity present in the Oswaldo Guayasamín School. The Master Degree in Childhood and Culture with an emphasis on imaginaries and social representations gives us tools, knowledge, pedagogical proposals, and researches that permit us to get closer to children as subjects that express their knowledge in every gesture and word. In the same way, childhood representations are framed in language, affections, and feelings. The children incorporate their knowledge from their cultural nest, where their grandparents pass down traditions and ancestral wisdom with the purpose of preserving their culture in the children’s daily life. One of the main objectives of this work is to elaborate a poetry book that gathers the work made with the children about the resignification of memory, ancestry, and culture concepts. This poetry book will be part of the school library, with the purpose of drawing schoolteachers and students closer to the process of how indigenous children build from the speaking and written words through the poems.
