Apoyo a la actualización cartográfica de la cabecera municipal del municipio del Piñón en el Departamento de Magdalena

Abstract

The municipality of Piñón, located in the department of Magdalena, currently has a rather outdated cartography, the most recent plates are from 2010 (belonging to the Agustín Codazzi Geographic Institute) and are at a scale of 1:25000, which does not allow to show a sufficient level of detail to execute in a more efficient way the land management plans or development planning of the municipality. For each municipality it is essential to have an updated basic cartography for various purposes: to correct or complete the information that has been produced over the years, to enable a perspective of the limits, to analyze the expansion focuses and also to list and identify on the ground the existing properties, among many other achievements and benefits. The project "SUPPORT FOR THE CARTOGRAPHIC UPDATE OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF EL PIÑON IN THE DEPARTMENT OF MAGDALENA" proposes as a solution to this outdated situation, the creation of the basic cartography of the municipality and its districts, using satellite images that allow a 1:5000 scale coverage of the urban area of the municipality, following the guidelines of the document "Production or update of the cartography" of the National Planning Department (DNP). In the work carried out, the basic 1:25,000 scale IGAC cartography was used as tools, as well as satellite images provided by the Arcgis base map, and mosaics created from satellite image clippings of the Google Earth software of this year 2020. With the above, we proceeded to compile the information we had for the subsequent creation of the layers that make up the basic cartography in ArcGIS and thus obtain as a result the maps with the basic cartography of the townships and population centers of the municipality at a scale of 1:5000 with the new cartographic projection system with a single origin for Colombia (National Origin).
