Resumen
One of the purposes of the study to be carried out is to provide a sustainable alternative, with minimal impact on the environment and with low-cost technology, in response to the energy demand that is present in communities isolated from the system of Colombian electrical interconnection; by means of machines like the Michell turbine Banki, which has a large field of application and can replace others that are more complex or inaccessible. The crossed flow turbine or turbine Michell Banki is a used hydraulic machine for small hydroelectric utilization through a transverse flow of Water. Unlike other turbines, it presents a simple design, it is built easily and requires a relatively lower cost, in the same way, its application does not is affected by the supplied flow because it has a regulator blade and no influences its design; obtaining acceptable efficiencies with several flow ranges. In this way, the work is aimed at experimentally evaluating the performance of a Michell Banki turbine through the design, construction and adaptation of a prototype of tests, based on the geographical and demographic characteristics existing in the Andean region of Colombia, and that, likewise, allow the appropriation of these methods of energy transformation and contribute to the academic development of these new technologies.
