Resumen
The objective of this monograph was to investigate the identification and analysis of patterns in the music medium as a didactic resource to favor the development of variational thinking in basic education and the media. For this, a qualitative research was carried out in a documentary analysis approach that included documents framed in the categories: mathematics, music, legal documents and documents that relate the sciences in terms of teaching, the latter, which allow us to identify the related mathematical concepts with the music, they also addressed the interests, advances and documents that contribute to this research. The documentary analysis proposed the construction of a proposal of activities for the different grades of basic and secondary education, these activities are linked with the basic principles of the competences and the curricular guidelines of the artistic education in order to create dynamic elements for teaching -learning of variational thinking (patterns, regularities, among others).
