Resumen
The project consists of an environmental diagnosis in the jungle infantry Battalion No.45 "General Prospero Pinzón"; The national army, being aware of the deterioration of natural resources and under the criterion of social responsibility, specifies the need to adopt institutional measures to reduce the impact of the environment; Considering the environmental dimension in the permanent performance of its activities through various planning strategies, it seeks to focus and adopt environmental guiding principles for the structural fulfillment of its mission. The environmental diagnosis of the installations of the battalion allowed to expose its state of development and propose actions that strengthen the environmental performance. The aim is to guide the battalion in an environmental management process that, in addition to caring for the environment, reduces costs for the use of natural resources and, subsequently, directs the battalion to create an environmental management system. In order to achieve this, information sources were used, both primary and secondary, which allowed us to examine and assess the environmental behavior of the battalion. Through interviews with the personnel and review of the facilities, a trend line was established regarding the behavior of the consumption of resources by the military unit. Strategies were implemented to mitigate and strengthen the environmental performance of the facilities, which allowed consolidating the information collected and guiding the necessary activities to have an adequate control of the environmental impacts that they cause in the facilities, all this in order to improve the performance environmental of the jungle infantry battalion no. 45 "General Prospero Pinzon" which aims to be the first tactical unit in the region to consolidate an environmental management scheme.
