Resumen
The "Voces y Regiones" program, broadcast on Arjona Estéreo and supported by the Ministry of the Interior, addressed the topic of justice in Colombia, highlighting the challenges within the judicial system and its historical evolution. The guest, Orlando Ramos Esalas, analyzed the structure of the Rule of Law in the country, explaining how justice is regulated by the 1991 Constitution and the laws governing judicial administration.
During the interview, key principles of justice were discussed, including the right to defense, access to justice, judicial independence, and the speed of legal proceedings. Ramos Esalas also pointed out systemic issues such as judicial congestion, corruption, and an inadequate criminal policy that has led to high levels of impunity and prison overcrowding.
Another discussion topic was the participation of indigenous communities in politics, emphasizing how the 1991 Constitution granted them representation in Congress. The special seats designated for these communities and their influence on political decision-making were analyzed.
Finally, the recent judicial reform proposed by the government was discussed, aiming to strengthen the independence of the judiciary, ensure more efficient justice, and reduce impunity. The program concluded with a reflection on the need for a transparent and accessible judicial system for all citizens.
