Resumen
The following investigation seeks to show what are the multimodal discursive strategies in the Deutsche Welle (DW), Noticias Caracol, and Pacifist in relation to the social struggles led by the mothers of the front line in the framework of the 2021 national strike in Colombia. The methodology used had a qualitative approach based on the interpretative paradigm proposed by Vasilachis (1992). The object of study in the analysis space was the mass media, with Thompson (1998) serving as the theoretical reference. Regarding the analysis technique, it was framed under the postulates of Kress and Van Leeuwen (2001) for the analysis of multimodal critical discourse. The data was collected through double entry matrices in order to facilitate said analysis.
Among the main findings, it was found that the discursive strategies in the analyzed media differ in their different semiotic modes, both in form and meaning; For this reason, each medium presents its own strategies. In the case of DW, the image is polysemic and open to multiple meanings; as a second strategy, the use of the camera was evidenced, due to the use of low-angle shots that allow giving more prominence to mothers. Regarding the strategies of Noticias Caracol, this medium used redundant development and the use of expressions "according to" to add unverified facts or rumors, and this emphasizes conflicting actions. Pacifista, for his part, evidenced the absence of the presenter, and the MPL (mothers of the first line) are the ones who take on the spokesperson role; in turn, there was an awareness toward these.
