Resumen
The Guarinó River, which forms the natural boundary between the departments of Caldas and Tolima, faces a serious threat of flooding due to factors such as heavy rainfall, climate change, deforestation, and human intervention. This monograph focuses on analyzing the flood risk in the lower basin of the river, with the goal of developing mitigation strategies and strengthening the resilience of local communities. The study is structured in three phases: data collection and analysis, geospatial analysis, and hydraulic modeling. Field visits, interviews, and surveys will be conducted to incorporate local perceptions of flood risk. The expected outcomes include the creation of flood risk maps, a thorough assessment of the area's vulnerability, and the development of a replicable model for flood risk management in other river basins. This project represents a comprehensive initiative to address and reduce flood risk in the lower Guarinó River basin. By combining advanced scientific techniques with active community participation, the aim is to establish effective and sustainable solutions that enhance the resilience of the entire region
