Tres obras contemporáneas para trombón

Abstract

Currently, trombone music in Colombia is in an evolutionary phase thanks to the work of composers and performers who decided to explore the trombone as a solo instrument. This recital highlights the work of three Colombian composers who have strived to create works for trombone. This being one of the first works presented in Colombia, it combines different musical possibilities that are framed in the current environment. The repertoire to be performed in this graduation project is unique in Colombia, consisting of three contemporary works for trombone, organized chronologically as follows: 1. Six Colloquial Pieces for Solo Trombone. SAMUEL BEDOYA (1981) 2. Fantasy for Trombone and Piano. GUSTAVO PARRA (1987) 3. Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra. JORGE PINZON (2005) This repertoire was selected because it allows us to show an academic process, where popular music and academic music have been present; the main objective being to interpret each work with a clear conception of its character and thus achieve a high interpretative quality. This repertoire belongs to the same era and yet is completely constant, each composer creating different atmospheres using the timbral resources offered by the trombone. All three works belong to the circuit of Ibero-American Caribbean Music (CIAM), the core of the musical arts program of the Academia Superior de Artes de Bogota.
