“Choose your future” a vocational booklet for 11th graders

Abstract

This project addressed the creation and design of a booklet, which was implemented in the San Francisco Modern Gymnasium School located in Bogotá, with the purpose of giving 11th-grade students the tools to make a more informed decision in choosing their career. The booklet contributes to the area of ELT in two main aspects: The first one is related to vocational education, as the booklet guides the students in the selection of their professional career, preventing them from making an uninformed choice that does not fit their professional interests and the second one stems from learning the English language through communicative activities proposed in the text. At the end of the implementation of the activities proposed in the booklet, the results showed that the students gained a close notion of the theoretical concepts of different careers, and at the same time they understood the importance of having a training on their professional future.In addition, their communicative competences in the English language improved.
