Resumen
The purpose of this undergraduate dissertation is to contribute to the construction and the preservation of the history of contemporary dance in Bogotá. We, as dancers and artists, got inspired by the contributions of teachers, colleagues and friends who participated in our training. We carried out a qualitative study, through semi-structured interviews applied to sixteen (16) contemporary dance groups, collectives and companies that developed their artistic processes in the Capital District in the last 20 years. The research population was organized into three generational groups, and the information obtained through the interviews was used to describe the recent history of contemporary dance in our city, based on three key elements: biography, training and artistic proposal. The main findings refer to the phenomenon of collectivity that has permeated the field of contemporary dance during the last two decades. Also, the importance of some particular characteristics during dancing training and scenic creations in our city. Thus, we formed a picture of a general perspective that outlines what it is like and what it means to do dance in Bogotá.
