Resumen
This research addresses the narrative undertaken by foreign travelers during their voyages through Colombia during the Nineteenth Century and the routes they took to gather information in their journals about Colombians´ everyday life, economy and culture elements. Thus, all these testimonials set up a primary source of historical research, that not only allows some specific facts recognition, but also leads to a social phenomenon understanding; the comprehension of economic development and the interpretation of territory images related to collective representations of the country. However, the narratives involved are taken as meaningful sources, since they make up a closer referent of the past, based on real life and anecdotal experiences produced in specific contexts. Therefore, such literature of voyages in Colombia contributes to the development of historiography in the country.
