Resumen
The characterization of populations allows us to highlight the social, economic, and cultural realities of a human group. For higher education institutions, it is necessary to develop characterizations of the individuals that compose the institution in order to enrich processes and decision-making. Therefore, the need arises to carry out the teachers characterization of the Faculty of Engineering at the Distrital University Francisco José de Caldas, generating research input to improve decision-making regarding this population. This is done through a major joint project with the SEICOECOL research group and the Office of University Welfare, aiming to increase teacher motivation and satisfaction in their work, as well as focus efforts for specific needs that have not been identified. Methodologically, a systematic literature review was conducted, structured through research phases, since the setting of search equations, identification, and definition of variables for the design of the characterization instrument, and its application through stratified random sampling. The instrument was applied using a Microsoft form through the institutional email; these results were managed and analyzed through descriptive statistics and data visualization tools, allowing subsequent analysis and the development of the profile of the Faculty of Engineering's teachers at the Distrital University. Additionally, future research directions were proposed to better understand the needs of the studied population and focus efforts accordingly.
