Diseño para la Implementación de Tarjetas Biométricas en el Banco de Bogotá para Transacciones en ATM y Dispositivos POS como Mecanismo Adicional de Seguridad para Reducir el Nivel de Fraude a los Clientes

Abstract

The objective of the project is to provide an additional security service to Banco de Bogotá clients doing cash withdrawal transactions at the different ATMs and purchases using POS ststems in the stores. The main feature of the service is to ensure that the person who is making financial transactions in any of the devices of the scope of the project, is the true and legitimate owner of the debit or credit card that is being used and thus avoid fraud by identity theft or data extraction by social engineering in face-to-face channels. The card will have a biometric system for reading and validating the client's fingerprint, which must be previously registered in a Banco de Bogotá office with any fingerprints. The linking process must be done at the moment the customer makes a change to his card or when he is linked to a savings or checking account that includes card handling or credit card modality. In the analysis carried out is the economic feasibility, the analysis of the market to cover, the engineering design of the solution adopted as well as the different stages of the PMI cycle that was the methodology selected for the study of the project. Finally, it will conclude why the project presents a good alternative for the bank to increase its profits and the value that customers will receive with the new product and service offered.
