Elaboración del balance hídrico y evaluación de las condiciones sanitarias del predio "Marsella" localizado en el municipio "El Playón" departamento de Santander

Abstract

The site "Marsella" is located in the municipality "El Playon" at the Department of "Santander", which is inhabited by a cocoa´s farmer Family whose production f is affected by seasons with excessive rains that saturate the soil and the extreme drought seasons. Additionally the place presents problems with the water supply: the aqueduct that supplies it does so intermittently and with poor quality, though they have a close water source to store it but the source doesn't have the minimum potability conditions. Finally, another one of the problems detected at the site is the wastewater dumping without a previous Environmental Pollution Treatment of Soil, Surface Water and Groundwater. Considering the problems described above, a water balance was developed. In this document was identified the months when cocoa crops should be watered or drained, based on the weather information in a typical year, to ensure an optimal yield of cocoa crops. Sanitation units like catch basin, a bypass tank, a slow sand filter and a storage tank were also designed in order to ensure continuous water supply and good quality in the housing; on the other hand others sanitation structures were suggested for the treatment of wastewater and thus be able to pour the treated ground water causing the least possible impact on the environment.
