Resumen
In the present investigation, a description of the geographic and demographic characteristics are addressed, as to the emerald mining in the Province of the West in Boyaca department, focusing on the looters, emerald and patterns in relation to their own social dynamics, developed in the particular conditions of the mining area and the consequences of this economic activity, the development of phenomena of collective violence and peace initiatives that are born in this context; You going among other sources, to the narratives of those who have been participants in these events, it is established that violence and reconciliation in the region, does not derive directly from mining, although it is the factor that determines the transition from social behavior, product political tradition as a means to consolidate regional power, a scenario where the economic element is the new medium for this purpose.
