Resumen
In recent years construction has been increasing in the city of Bogotá. The structures are being built very close to each other in the metropolitan areas. Due to the closeness of the structures, they often collide with each other when subjected to seismic events. As a result, the buildings will have greater deformation due to the high amplitude of the impact seismic force. The easiest way to mitigate the problem of knocking between buildings is to provide a safe separation. However, this would not be the case of existing buildings, which have been built informally and do not meet the requirements established in the Colombian earthquake resistant norm. In the present investigation we try to compare the influence of the separation distance in the response of the structure, to estimate the variation of the damage that would be caused in a seismic event, the analysis is done by software, between buildings that do not have a minimum separation and the impact force is compared by varying the separation distances between adjacent structures. The structural response is analyzed by software, and the strength calculations are studied under the classical theory of impact.
