Resumen
This report presents the results of the internship carried out at Belltech Colombia S.A. from September 18 to December 18, 2023. During the internship, a diagnosis of the company's environmental management system was conducted, improvement opportunities were identified, recommendations were made, and some of the suggested improvement proposals were developed. The company has recently implemented and certified an environmental management system according to the ISO 14001:2015 standard. Consequently, there are opportunities for strengthening and maturation, which were identified and addressed to close gaps related to compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and to achieve the objective of continuous improvement, one of the four declared objectives in their management system. During the internship, it was found that there was a wealth of prior information, so additional diagnoses through new audits were not required. Therefore, to facilitate the analysis of improvement opportunities, it was considered more appropriate to focus this effort on creating a tool that consolidated and organized the company's gaps, which were identified in the findings of internal and external audits of the ISO 14001 standard and other activities. The file was named: "SGA Diagnosis" and classifies topics by the related management system, the type of finding, such as internal nonconformity, external nonconformity, regulatory requirement, Uniform Contractor Registration - RUC® requirement, or another type of finding. Additionally, based on its criticality, the findings were prioritized, and a field was included to indicate the status of compliance or progress in addressing the issue, ranging from 0% to 100%. This tool provided a methodology that allowed for a quantitative measurement of the progress status of the environmental management system in relation to the treatment of identified opportunities, becoming a useful element for monitoring the execution of activities. Finally, during the internship, recommendations were generated, and some of the proposed activities were developed, resulting in progress in the overall compliance status of the management system. It was concluded that Belltech's environmental management system has improvement opportunities that, when adequately addressed, will strengthen the organization's environmental performance. However, despite the margin for improvement, the system is compliant with the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015 standard. The decision not to conduct additional diagnostics through audits in favor of consolidating, organizing, and prioritizing the information from previously obtained findings was also considered appropriate, thus avoiding generating an excess of information that could complicate the prioritization of activities. Lastly, some of the improvement proposals were successfully developed, and recommendations were provided to continue strengthening the environmental management system.
