Resumen
This study focuses on the microscopic petrographic analysis of thin sections obtained from the Antioquian batholith, specifically in the municipality of Barbosa, Antioquia. The study focuses on evaluating the mineralogical composition and the effects of weathering on residual and paralitic soils at different depths. The methodology employed includes the use of petrographic microscopy to analyze the thin sections and characterize the differences in composition, texture, and microstructure of the samples. The analysis seeks to quantify the proportion of minerals present through the use of fractal geometry, a method that allows the measurement and characterization of mineral particle sizes and shapes. Finally, the research seeks to contribute to the development of a micro-petrographic index, based on the mineralogical characterization of the samples, that complements previous studies and, with chemical analysis, allows a better understanding of residual and saprolitic soils derived from granodiorite.
