Resumen
From a technical perspective of music, we can find different tools that allow us getting closer to any musical genre, which help to improve our performances and conscience about the descriptive features of those genres, like can be sheet music, transcriptions of the different instruments, musical analysis, among others. It is important to stand out that the audition process is the most basic and accessible tool for anyone, that connect us directly with music.
In the case of MuteMath, a musical North American group, with a musical production of over 5 albums, where it shows the fusion of some distinct musical genres covering those like rock, jazz and inclusive psychedelic soul, after an exhaustive investigation, could not be found more than the music itself, some videos and a few interviews of the members.
The objective of this work is about offering to the musical community, and so for myself, a very useful tool that works as a foundation of the performance and understanding about the music of MuteMath, which promote especially the incorporation of the interpretive and compositional ideas given by Darren King as the band’s drummer, so then they can be used in live concerts, studio recording and as support for the creation of very new ideas.
The above is carried out by the analysis of three songs made by MuteMath, which were chosen because of their musical and performative quality, and because of the ways of approach the instrument (drums), making use of the alteration of the timbre by different process like using tape on the snare to cut off the harmonics, the use of 3 sticks at the same time, among others.
