Abstract

This document is a modest tribute to the clarinetist, pedagogue and composer Jorge Andrés Vélez Ospina and, at the same time, it is a compilation of the most decisive experiences that have defined his compositional work. In the first part of the work, we take a look at the anecdotes and the most intimate passages of Vélez and, secondly, it is presented in a chronological way the development of his compositional work from the beginning to the present. Throughout this chapter, a general idea of the person is consolidated, the clarinetist's history is recounted, and a thread is traced to the origins of Colombian composer Jorge Andrés Vélez Ospina. The second chapter presents the work that is the central axis of this document; Fandangoneitor: Dúo para Clarinete y Piano. In this section, the reader is led through the history of the piece, which goes back to the period in which Vélez, in addition to all the previously mentioned roles, also served as conductor. After a look at the transformations that have been determinant for the consolidation of this work, a series of guidelines or contributions for the interpretation are proposed, in which some of the most significant challenges of this work are exposed, which are intended to be a point of reference for those who are interested in the compositions of Jorge Andrés Vélez.
