Resumen
San Francisco Piedro and San Francisco Consuelo coal mines are part of the Mining Concession Contract 867T of Promincarg S.A.S, they are located in Peñas village, jurisdiction of the municipality of Guachetá, department of Cundinamarca, specifically in the northern zone of the mining title. In the development of the internship, a methodology was executed that starts from the recognition of the mining wastewater treatment system, diagnosis, evaluation and finally the formulation of improvement alternatives. During the reconnaissance of the system, the review of the dimensions was carried out with respect to the designs contemplated in the environmental management plan, registration of inlet and outlet flows, taking and analysis of water samples. The evaluation of fulfillment with resolution 0631 of 2015, article 10. of the water analyzes for the years 2017,2019,2021, 2022 and those carried out during the field visits showed that there is partial compliance for the parameters sulfates, iron, settleable solids, total suspended solids and BOD. The field visits coincided with the winter season in Guachetá town, in Cundinamarca, specifically in visit No. 5 where water samples were taken in each unit operation, it was evidenced that the concentration of sulfates and iron was low at the entrance and output (dumping) of the system. This behavior occurs because the speed of movement of water in the rock is greater than in summer, which means that the fluid is stored for less time and dilution of the pollutant load occurs. According to the results obtained in the diagnosis and evaluation, three improvement alternatives are proposed for the mining wastewater treatment system, which are focused on taking advantage of the infrastructure that already exists. For these alternatives, it is proposed to place three upflow tanks underground in order to carry out a primary sedimentation (pretreatment) and thus prevent high amounts of settleable solids and total suspended solids from reaching the surface, this is an option viable since by carrying out a sedimentation prior to pumping the water to the surface, damage to the submersible pumps can be prevented and the contaminant load that the other unit operations (settlers and filters) have to treat will be less. Additionally, three possible reuses of treated mining wastewater are proposed within the productive activity as established by Resolution 1256 of 2021 that regulates the use of wastewater, these actions are proposed since the reuse of wastewater is emerging as a viable alternative. and beneficial for the environment. This document contains the recognition, diagnosis, evaluation and formulation of improvement alternatives for the San Francisco mining wastewater treatment system, it will be a guide for the Environmental Management Department of Promicarg S.A.S at the time when they need to carry out a similar analysis in the STAR of the 867T mining title, is additionally a tool that allows decisions to be made regarding the structural changes that must be generated to increase the percentage of efficiency of the system and thus comply with the regulations.
