Resumen
Project work has been giving new ideas for the ESL classes, especially for students to follow methods to improve their learning process. The purposes of this study were to identify and describe the opportunities students have to improve their writing practices while following project work tasks and to establish a guide for students to carry out their graduation projects from primary school. Thus, I planned the activities and tasks to be implemented in the classroom, and the data collection process in order to analyze students’ journals, surveys, artifacts and teacher’s logs. I found that project work allows and helps students to write about their life experiences, emotions, as well as to write about themselves by following each of the steps proposed in the study. As a conclusion for this study, project work gives students opportunities to reflect about their life experiences making connections with their past experiences and context, and also to use English in a more natural way. Project work was an innovative method taken to English classroom avoiding monotonous classes, giving students more dynamic classes in order to use English in their daily lives to be able to write about themselves. Therefore, project work was the applied methodology by which students used writing as a means to express themselves, letting their voices to be heard and narrating their life experiences, emotions and influence of the context.
