Resumen
The construction sector in Colombia, over the years has been one of the most important economic activities, because it encompasses in each of its aspects and processes social areas, which define the quality of life of people. The population growth of the country has made Colombian businessmen see construction more as an immeasurable enrichment activity, instead of seeing it as the means to satisfy the needs of people and social improvement. The practices and methods of construction today, not only generates dissatisfaction in areas of comfort, space and quality in society, but also generates negative externalities in the environment. The choice of materials, the amount of energy required and the unconscious use of water resources has driven the implementation of the concept of sustainability in construction. Therefore, this project addresses the benefits of sustainable construction, compared to the traditional construction that has been implemented in today's society. This document will focus on the selection of materials and the related costs when making use of them, the impacts caused in each of the stages of the project and the cost-benefit that traditional construction generates and the application of sustainability in it.
