Resumen
The article describes the development of a cleaning system for selected fruits such as mangoes, pears, and apples. The system uses a conveyor belt to transport the fruit to a sealed box where a cleaning and disinfection process is applied. The system consists of two lines of misting spray, each using a different chemical agent, and also simultaneously implements UV-C disinfection. The study was divided into three stages: a literature review of different methods of fruit washing and disinfection in the first stage, the selection of topologies with higher effectiveness in the second stage that incorporated the necessary requirements for machine operation, such as sensors, actuators, controlled irrigation system, and control panel. The third stage involved testing the system's functionality and conducting different microbiological tests that showed the advantages of treating fruit before consumption, demonstrating that fruit passing through the mentioned system has a shelf life of 1 to 2 days longer than fruit treated with traditional methods.
