The paper proposes the formulation of a training program in document management using the metaverse, taking advantage of virtual reality to offer immersive practical experiences. It highlights the need to implement document management processes in the metaverse and justifies its importance in the current context. Background research exploring the use of technology in education, including virtual learning environments, is related. The term “virtual reality” was first coined in 1938 by the French poet Antonin Artaud and has evolved to be applied in various fields. The metaverse, therefore, becomes a shared virtual space in real time, which has gained popularity and has been explored on different platforms, offering great potential for education by creating immersive and personalized learning environments. This is considered in order to generate new trends that are coupled with the technology of the future. Next, an exploratory research on the use of the metaverse in document management was conducted, using interviews and questionnaires as research techniques. The results of the survey to students of the archival program showed that most of them have no experience with the metaverse, but consider that digital tools can improve learning, and participation in digital environments strengthens the development of digital skills.
