Resumen
This work presents an analysis of the environmental conditions in the Páramo de Guerrero district, located in the municipality of Zipaquirá, alongside the requirements for cultivating agraz (Vaccinium meridionale) and uva camarona (Macleania rupestris). It also examines the productive conditions of the local population and their acceptance of these crops as alternatives for productive reconversion, aiming to promote sustainable local development. These fruits are native species from the Ericaceae family that contribute to the recovery and conservation of the area, which is situated in a protected zone and an integrated management district. However, traditional activities such as livestock farming and agriculture (notably potato cultivation) continue to take place without adequate support from environmental and municipal authorities, hindering the adoption of a sustainable production model that preserves the ecosystem services of the district.
As a result of this analysis, suitable areas for developing these crops were zoned, and the implementation of mixed cultivation systems was proposed. This alternative would allow the community to maintain their traditional practices while facilitating the marketing of the fruits, which have significant potential for adding value through transformation and presentation in the municipal market. Furthermore, promoting the cultivation of these species contributes to the environmental sustainability of the region.
