Resumen
Urban agriculture is considered as a strategy for building sustainable cities (FAO, 2010); For this reason, was performed an analysis of social and economic environmental sustainability of this activity taking as a benchmark the projects implemented in Ciudad Bolivar locality in Bogotá city. A fieldwork in Ciudad Bolivar locality, where a total of 11 gardens that are under the supervision of the Botanical Garden José Celestino Mutis Bogota JBB; The data collection was done strategically, environmental, social and economic dimensions under the framework of sustainability was taken into account, in which key variables were used to the application of the methodology developed by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture IICA. Urban agriculture in Ciudad Bolivar showed expected levels of sustainability in social and economic dimension, and unexpected in the environmental dimension; from these results strategies for strengthening the Urban Agriculture were proposed such us the application of indicators to monitor and control this activity which are the results of this work.
