Resumen
This methodology focuses on the quantification of carbon sequestration for forestry projects that minimally implement any of the three coverages described throughout the document (forest plantations, agroforestry systems and / or fruit crops) and that wish to apply for the market. of carbon credits. Through this methodology, the owners of said projects will be able to recognize and apply appropriate practices and processes to quantify the CO2 removals that these projects can remove. This will address fundamental aspects for the applicability of this document in any project such as the scope, conditions, requirements, eligibility, deposits and sources of CO2, land tenure conditions, baseline scenario and additionality criteria, which are elements necessary to validate and accurately monitor the CO2 removal projects that implement any of the three coverages managed by this methodology. On the other hand, monitoring takes a differential role within this methodology since it is established within the quantification of CO2 removed is carried out according to the magnitude of the project (property or umbrella program). Thus, for umbrella programs, a stratification of the property projects that compose is carried out according to the species, age and timber volume of the plantation for later quantifying these removals according to the equations proposed in the AR-TOOLS. The monitoring described for the quantification of aerial biomass in this methodology addresses fundamental characteristics such as the shape and size of the plots to be sampled, monitoring frequency, relocation of non-viable plots, among others, which are described sequentially to understand processes properly and also the data and monitored parameters will be specified. Finally, the risks of non-permanence of the projects will be considered, where the methodology used to determine non-tradable carbon credits is dynamic, in accordance with internal, external and natural risks, which have the power to reduce the number of certificates of non-permanence each monitoring and verification is carried out, in accordance with the use of good practices to reduce risk.
